Partners in Success
At Virginia Gallian Child Development Center, we understand that early education of children is not only important, but is one of the strongest predictors of later success in higher education. This website was developed to answer questions of parents' questions and help teachers to better educate the children at VGCDC. The resources used in this website were chosen because they are research based and on the whole fall in line with VGCDC's beliefs. Periodically, websites change their information or there are one or two points that we at VGCDC do not agree with. Please keep this in mind should you encounter information that seems contradictory to VGCDC's teachings.
Books are a valuable resource for parents and teachers when the need arises to everyday subjects such as hitting, making friends, and being proud of who you. They are also useful when discussing delicate situations, such as death or divorce. There are many recommendations for books as well as a list of books we have in stock for a variety of situations on our "Books" page. Sometimes more difficult situations arise and in those times counseling can be helpful to one or multiple members of the family. Our "Counseling" page has multiple resources available for immediate or long term needs.
We utilize American Sign Language (ASL) in the infant and toddler rooms. The "Sign Language" page contains information on why we use ASL, how we use it, as well as some images of common signs we use at Virgina Gallian so that parents may use these signs at home. Many of the parents at VGCDC have asked our teachers questions about their child's development. These are normal and natural questions that every parent is curious about. Many of these questions can be answered on the "Parents" page. This page leads to pages specific for "Infants", "Toddlers", and "Pre-K" classrooms as well as pages with specific information on "Specific Diagnosis." Lastly, we have information for parents who wish to have their children tested for specific disorders, or wish to receive "Services" for their children.
